About the members of our Board of Directors
Cathy Muha, Board Chairperson, has been an at-home mother for twenty-two
years and has four sons, the youngest a high school freshman. Cathy holds an
undergraduate degree in Public Health Education and a graduate degree in Health
Science with a concentration in Clinical Leadership in End-of-Life Care.
Cathy has deep roots in northern Virginia and extensive leadership experience
in a wide range of community organizations.
Tom Mayer started staying home three days a week when his son Liam was
about six months old. In August of 2003 Tom resigned from his job as a Research
Psychologist at the U.S. Bureau of the Census to stay home full time. That's
about the time he began volunteering for FAHN, contributing articles and book
reviews to Welcome Home as well as lending his expertise as a psychologist to
the design of FAHN's "Transitioning Home" project. Tom and his wife moved the
family to the Richmond, Virginia area a few years ago. Liam is now eight years
old and has a little brother, Danny, who is two. Tom enjoys woodworking as
well as playing harmonica and singing with his blues band.
Jeanne Potts Faulconer is a stay-at-home and homeschooling mom to three
sons, ages 20, 18 and 10. Communication is Jeanne's field, and once upon a
time she was a professor at Averett University in Virginia, quitting to be
home full-time with her toddler just after she was awarded tenure. A Welcome
Home reader for many years, Jeanne wrote an article about her "difficult" child
and then led a lively online discussion on that topic. In addition to writing,
Jeanne does a lot of informal work in homeschooling advocacy, and enjoys leading
workshops and speaking at conferences. Jeanne grew up in Virginia, lived in
North Carolina (where for 10 years she was a LaLeche League leader and
conference organizer), spent a few years in northwest Mississippi, and
lves now in rural Virginia.
Jennifer Neff Macris is the proud stay-at-home mother of five children
(ages 2 to 10 years). Her family resides in Annapolis, MD, where her husband,
a Naval Aviator, is completing his Ph.D. and teaching history at the U.S. Naval
Academy. Jenn discovered Welcome Home before the birth of her first child in 1998,
and has been a fan and supporter of FAHN ever since. Jenn grew up in southern
California, where she earned her undergrad and graduate degrees (International
MBA). Before motherhood, she worked in Silicon Valley and in the Persian Gulf.
Jenn volunteers in her community and enjoys travelling with her husband and
children.
Danielle Drake Corazza grew up in a military family and enlisted after
high school. After seeing a bit of the world and completing her term of service,
Danielle left military service. She then worked full-time while earning a
Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Danielle and her husband live in
northern Virginia with their one-year-old son Ethan. While being Ethan's
at-home mother is her first priority, Danielle is also enrolled in the
University of Massachusett's online MBA degree program and she is active in
local at-home mothers' groups.
Executive Director
Cathy Myers is FAHN's Executive Director. She has served FAHN in many
ways since she began volunteering in 1985, when her children were ages three
and five. In recent years, Cathy and her husband have happily welcomed their
daughter-in-law and son-in-law to their family. And they are delighted to be
sharing their home with their daughter, son-in-law and three year old
grandson! Being a grandparent is wonderful and provides daily inspiration to
continue FAHN's work. Cathy is enrolled in college part-time working on a
Bachelor of Individualized Studies degree in Human Development and Parenting.
She finds abundant scholarly research affirming the importance of parenting
and the effectiveness of support for new parents, and she appreciates the way
her studies, her life and her work with FAHN weave together.
